Tell me what you see..

The numbers on my paycheck

That your eyes seem to prey on

Are more to me than you’ll ever see

Tell me, friends and family

Do you see it?

The youth that was spent building away

At a fantasy that I obeyed

The years of work

The days of hunger

With not a penny to spare

Were you there for my suffering?

Did you even recognise my sacrifice?

The one that you scoffed at

Telling me I’ll never get there

But now the hardship is over

The fruits of my labour finally have bloomed

Colourful and ripe

Round and full

More that I ever anticipated

The bountiful splendour

That I deserve

Away from those who feel I need to serve
