Self-Assessment PART 3

Another One?! Lol yes! I do my research!

So if you don’t know, I am about to begin a journey of self-improvement but before I decided to so, I found it necessary to embark on a vigorous self-assessment.

Self- Assessment PART 1 consisted of describing myself in one phrase.

Self-Assessment PART 2 consists of doing the well known and detailed 16 personality test and publishing the results. I would definitely recommend trying it.

And now we are on to PART 3. What are we going to do?

Most of our lives revolve around our careers. Studying, Internship, networking etc. We spend more time around our co-workers than our families (unfortunately). So the qualities required for you to excel in your certain career path are necessary to establish.

I have graduated with a law degree and want to go on to become a solicitor.

Hibernian Legal posted on Twitter the 7 qualities required to be a solicitor.

Through other articles and research, I would add:

  • Commercial Awareness
  • Critical Thinking
  • Flexibility : Law cases resolve around many aspects of real life and as a result cases do not merely request the law but rather a multitude of things. Examples include philosophy, morality, current political climate, current economic climate, if doing a medical negligence case understanding medical terminology is essential, understanding technology and coding when doing technology law and may be need in the future for company law due to the number of start up tech companies needing company law services.
  • Constant Learning: The law is ever changing.

Summary of qualities that I need to focus on:

  • Judgement
  • Public Speaking Skills
  • Reading Comprehension Skills
  • Analytical Skills
  • People Skills
  • Creativity
  • Perseverance
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Critical Thinking
  • Flexibility
  • Constant Learning
