Cumbersome Burden

Cumbersome burden, so heavy for the lifting

Dead weight that is forever drifting

Where to dispose, Oh where to dispose?

Of thou who has long imposed

Heavy burden, Oh heavy burden

Oh how I want to be free

From your heavylifting

Incessant slipping

Uninteresting and unassisting

Herculean challenge to be

Heavy burden, Heavy burden

Don’t look at me with those eyes

For I have given more than others in fives

Your presence has become heavy

And your absence has become necessary

To let the heart grow fonder

So pack your bags and yonder

To a far land to pounder

Try not to squander

As I won’t be the first responder

  1. I can practically feel the weight with this, the overbearing, incessant burden. “Your presence has become heavy And your absence has become necessary” – Very powerful. Beautifully written, I really like this piece! x
